Choose LinkedIn skills that fit your experience

Choose skills with examples

Start with your experience and projects. For each skill, identify an activity in which you used it. A concrete example helps you choose accurate terms without forcing an artificial number of skills.

Related work does not establish every tool commonly associated with it. Working with reports alone does not prove a particular software package or advanced technique. Include a term when you can explain your involvement.

Distinguish practice, study and intention

You can value learning without describing it as professional experience. A course may support education; a project may show application in a defined context. Interest in learning something is different from a skill you have exercised.

Consistency does not require identical text

A resume may focus on one application while LinkedIn presents a broader career. Wording and length can differ as long as roles, dates, context and responsibilities remain accurate. Confirm meaningful differences without deleting legitimate information that appears in only one place.

Curriculy suggests organization from the material you supply. If you have not provided your current profile skills, it can propose a list but cannot establish that the published section is empty. Check the terms and presentation on LinkedIn before saving.
